In 1996, the pop song “Lovefool” permeated all of the alternative rock radio stations. As a sophomore in high school, the lyrics only heightened my quest for love—or, really, a date to one of the proms.
“Love me, love me … say that you love me.” I know there’s more to the song than that, but it’s all I can bring myself to remember. Wait a minute. When someone mentioned “The Cardigans” to me earlier today, I thought this was supposed to be about the one-hit wonder by Peter Svensson and Nina Pearson. Oops.
I’d much rather discuss—and ponder—cardigan sweaters. After all, they’re a hot item this season and I foresee a few of them being added to my fall/winter wardrobe. I’m sure your clients will feel the same way. But whatever you do, don’t play them “Lovefool” during a sales pitch.
